RECYCLED COTTON-CASHMERE
A refined blend of recycled cotton and cashmere, developed for softness, breathability and effortless layering. Used for the Mayla Sangha wrap, the yarn combines the natural structure of cotton with the gentle warmth and softness of cashmere, creating a lighter knit designed to move easily between seasons and rituals. Unlike pure cashmere, the addition of cotton gives the fabric a slightly drier hand feel and more everyday durability, while the cashmere softens the surface and adds warmth without heaviness. The result is a knit that feels relaxed, breathable and comforting against the skin.
The Material
The yarn used to develop the Mayla Sangha wrap combines
85% recycled cotton, 15% cashmere
The recycled cotton gives the fabric texture, lightness and a lived-in character, while the cashmere contributes softness and insulation.
The blend is semi-worsted spun, creating a smooth and refined surface with subtle natural variation.
Why We Chose It
We wanted a fabric that could bridge the space between loungewear, yoga layering and everyday dressing. The cotton and cashmere blend was selected for its soft yet breathable feel, lightweight warmth and natural comfort against the skin. It has a reduced heaviness compared to pure cashmere and a relaxed drape and lived-in elegance. Lower environmental impact through recycled cotton content. It is designed to feel easy rather than precious.
Feel and Function
The wrap is intended as a versatile layering piece, worn before practice, after movement, while travelling, at home, or as part of an everyday uniform.
The material adapts well across climates and seasons due to the balance between insulating cashmere and breathable cotton fibres. Compared to traditional activewear fabrics, the sensation is softer, calmer and more natural against the body.
Caring for Recycled Cotton-Cashmere
Recycled Cotton-Cashmere garments are designed for softness, comfort and everyday wear. With thoughtful care, the fabrics maintains its shape and refined texture over time.
Washing
Hand wash cold or machine wash on a delicate wool cycle using a mild detergent suitable for wool or cashmere. Use a gentle wash and a low spin setting to preserve the shape of the knit.
Drying
After washing, gently reshape the garment and lay flat to dry. Avoid tumble drying, as this might affectt the texture and longevity of the fabric.
Storage
Store folded rather than hanging to help maintain the shape of the garment.
A More Considered Approach
At Mayla Sangha, materials are chosen not only for how they look and feel, but for how they are developed, sourced and worn over time.
